McCain says racism will barely affect election

excerpt:
Republican presidential candidate John McCain says racism exists in
America,
but will be trumped by the nation's economic problems and play virtually
no
role when voters head to the polls next week.
In an interview taped for broadcast Wednesday night on CNN's "Larry King
Live," McCain said people will vote "for the best of reasons, not the
worst
of reasons." He said "99 and 44 one-hundredths percent" of people will
vote
based on who they want to lead the country.
Referring to people who might vote against Democrat Barack Obama because
he
is black, McCain said that would represent a tiny minority of votes. He
said
that is because people are hurting too much.
----------
Here's the litmus test I'd like to see McCain face. Let's assume it's very
late on election night and both candidates are tied with only Ohio's
electoral votes pending as the deciding 20 votes needed to decide the
race.
Let's say that Obama is ahead by 500 votes when CNN suddenly re****ts that
the final votes have been tallied in a rural county that is 100% White --
one with a long history of White Nationalist activities -- and that all
1000
votes in the county were tallied for McCain, giving him a 500 vote lead in
Ohio and the election. Imagine that all mediots converge on the county and
televise images of defiant White people celebrating and chanting "Nobama"
and the like. Would McCain renounce the "racist" votes and forfeit the
presidency to Obama like a good little altruist?
