Hall of Fame "Ford Frick" Award -- no Skip or Pete?

by Ltown <Ltown@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Oct 25, 2008 at 07:27 PM

There is a "Ford Frick" annual award in the Baseball Hall of Fame for
outstanding (radio) broadcasters. Harry Caray was honored back in
1989.

As far as I know neither Skip Caray nor Pete Van Wieren has ever been
in the yearly nominee list.

I am also a fan of the Cincinnati Reds and know there was a huge
outpouring of sup****t for long-time broadcaster Joe Nuxhall after he
died of cancer last year. The on-line voting got him placed on the
2008 ballot and again this year for the 2009 ballot. Fan on-line
voting for the Frick award has been allowed for the last 5 years.
Fans get to select 3 of the 10 yearly candidates. A committee of
former Frick winners and historians choose the annual winner.

I sure would like to see Skip and Pete get some fan sup****t next year!
