My only concern with the instant play for home runs is whether they're
going about it too fast. =A0 The way things have a habit of having bugs
in them I just don't know. Who also can see this creating more
problems, at least at first, than it solves?
Boy but didn't Slappy look like he turned to the umpire and said "Do you
know who I am" on that third strike called (Which looked inside to me.).
I've got one of those cute names for this series that's got two meanings
but we'll have to wait until maybe after tonight's game to unveil it.
One key last night was that the Yankees took the easy (Or convenient, at
least.) way out scoring two of their runs, while the Sox did it the
hard, or inconvenient way.
Yay, I remembered the points I had thought up from last night.
Masterson's stare in isn't quite as intimidating as Paps is but it sure
does engender a sense of calm and cool in conrtoledness (Okay,I suspect
that's not a real word. Let's just call it a Donword.) doesn't it?
And his troubles the next inning in no large way affect his grade for
getting ARod to end that previous inning with the GIDP. Especially
since Oki got out of that one nicely.
Kind of a rough night for the Vowel Rods wasn't it? ARod goes 0 for 5
hitting into 3 double plays (Is that right?) and striking out the other
two times, including to end the game, leaving an amazing 7 men on base,
and IRod goes 0 for 2 after pinch hitting late in the game. In
actuality ARod may be fine in the clutch against most other teams but he
sure doesn't seem that way against the Sox. And if he can't do it
against the Sox..........
And did the Sox really score 4 runs on infield hits to third base?
Bailey getting the two RBI in that case? (Oh, and by the by, WHO WAS
that playing third for TEE last night?) I can't really remember those
plays all that well but in all fairness to TEE and their third baseman
considering the margin of victory was also 4 runs lends an aspect of
luck to this one.

Wake gets a pass for the 5 innings giving up just 3 runs. Needed one
more inning for the quality start and the plus.
Relief pitching:
In a rarity I'll be giving three pluses for relief today because it
seems to me they were all of equal im****tance.
Masterson would have been the STAR. "key moment of the game" for
inducing that Slappy DP if not for setting up the Oki heroics in the
next inning, so he gets a " + " instead.
Oki gets a " + " for getting out of the slightly lesser tight spot
Masterson left him with.
And Paps gets a " + ", not for the cheap ass 'tying run in the on deck
circle' save but for having to get 4 outs to get it. Making his the
cheapest of the pluses awarded this game.
Offense :
I feel a bit strange awarding a " +" for an infield hit but Bailey gets
one for the hit to third that scored 2 runners.
Coco gets a " + " for the 3 hits, RBI and run scored.
And Bay gets a " +" for the 2 hits, 2 RBI and run scored.
