Well, I'll be arriving in Boston on the 12th September on the Megabus
from New York. I've got tickets to Toronto (12th/13th/14th), plus
Cleveland (22nd/24th) and MFY (26th) so I'm of course incredibly
excited. My friends Steve (Scotland) and Petra (Sweden) are coming
with me, they are also super excited about coming to Fenway Park.
Petra and I will be going to the ASTRO conference for a week before
flying home to the UK. I know I did a thoroughly awful job of keeping
in touch with everyone last time, but hope to be better this time!!!
Feel free to email me if you're up for a beer sometime or if you're
attending any of those games and want to say hello. We'll be in New
York from the 6th to the 12th as well by the way.
Of course, you know that me coming to Fenway ensures a World Series
win for the Sox, so get your wagers laid now before the odds start to
come down.
As with last time, if you have any recommendations for good stuff to
do, places to go, restaurants (actually would be good to get some recs
for breakfast and lunch, since the evening meal places are well
reviewd on the web), and bars (ones open late that serve cocktails,
are not too loud but have a relaxed atmosphere especially) would be
welcomed.
We'll be at Jury's hotel for a few days then off to the Sea****t, and
then to the Hilton at Logan Air****t.
Of the players this year who I saw in 2004, I think there must only be
Varitek, Youkilis, Wakefield, Timlin, and of course Ortiz. I suppose
Schilling counts even though he won't be there this year.
I really hope to see all the rotation but I think I might end up
missing Dice-K. The games should be quite exciting as the Sox will
probably be vying for the ALEast and/or Wild Card, and the MFY should
be eliminated so that will be nice :-) Also getting to see two new
teams in Toronto and Cleveland will be good. I might even try and get
tickets for the Pats-Dolphins game though I've heard it's a bit of a
trek up there
I think Baltimore were a bit of a "bogey team" that year, of course I
got to see them play the Sox, of course they took 2 of 4, including a
BJ Surhoff grand slam and I seem to recall Foulke meltdown too. We did
win on two walkoffs though - Cabrera with a homerun over the monster
and maybe a Bellhorn double to centre field? I came within one row of
catching an Ortiz homerun, that could have been the Yankee game
though, it was weird as the guy who did catch it had called the home
run at the start of the at bat. I'll also never forget "Pig Girl", or
the annoying Johnny Damon fan club girls!
This year Toronto has been a bit of a bogey team, so I'll be hoping we
can beat them with me there. Steves mum is from Toronto, I'll try to
keep him quiet if he sup****ts the Buljays
Nomar had just been traded, of course he was by far my favourite
player. Petra's favourite player is Manny Ramirez. Bah! (at least 44
is/was my lucky number as a long time Redskins fan, so nice to see
Jason Bay reclaim that number).
