The Pawtucket Red Sox opened up their offense again on Wednesday
night knocking out a season-high 19 base hits, in a 14-4 win. .Wilson
(SS), Carter, and Velazquez (2B) each had 3 hits. The Sox are now a
franchise record, 27 games over the .500 plateau. Lincoln Holdzkom
(6-5) earned the win with 4 shutout innings of relief. For the second
straight night, Gil Velazquez (10) and Jonathan Van Every (26) hit
back to back home runs. Velazquez became the seventh PawSox hitter to
reach double figures in home runs (Van Every, Bailey (25), Carter
(24), Kottaras (22), Brown (12), Thurston (10). Jason Lane has 18, but
hit 16 while with Scranton). Off day on Thursday and Charlie Zink
(14-5) goes Friday.
