Don't know how many of you saw the Yahoo headline today, 8/27/08 about the
attempt to stop a new desalinization plant in California. It tcked me off
enough to send the company trying to stop it the following e-mail:
To whom it may concern,
Even though this will probably fall on deaf ears, I have to get a
few things off my mind. First, I will say that organizations like yours
are capable of doing a lot of good for this country. The problem is you
will never settle for anything short of having exactly what you want, no
matter the consequences to U.S. citizens, the economy of this great nation
or just common sense. It's no wonder you are located in California. Along
with Massachusetts the most liberal and left wing parts of the country.
The liberals in this country ACT like they want the best for everyone, but
no matter what the rest of the people in this country want, no matter what
solutions they come up with, you will always come up with a problem with
the solution. Where do you suggest we come up with an increased supply of
water. Our population is growing and there is a finite amount of available
fresh water. This seems like a rather reasonable solution to that need.
Many countries around the world have desalinization plants. It is a fact
of life that as the population of the planet grows we have to come up with
alternative sources for water, as well as energy. Of course the lefties
fight every attempt to solve our energy problems. Science tries to come up
with bio-fuels, Ethanol starts to show promise and the left starts to
scream about the food shortages it causes. People start to develop wind
farms and immediately there are complaints that they don't look nice, or
they block my nice ocean view ( Sen. Kennedy on Cape Cod), or the
transmission lines can't go here or can't go there, Or they make to much
noise, or birds are flying into them. And then there's solar. There are
constant roadblocks put up to keep them from making a dent in our needs.
Then of course there is carbon based fuels which you do everything in your
power to stop. And nuclear power- same story. What do you expect mankind
to do? move back in to caves, rub sticks together to start a fire so we
can stay warm and cook? Oh no, I forgot. That would mean cutting down a
tree for fuel and that would lead to deforestation. I guess all of us
right wing religious fanatics should just die off, go to our maker, and
leave this planet to you wackos.
