Odd Super Bowl streak stays alive through XL

by "\"R&B\"" <NoneOfYourBusiness@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Feb 6, 2006 at 01:36 AM

My favorite little Super Bowl factoid/streak that nobody ever mentions
(probably because I'm the only one weird enough to have noticed it) stayed
intact through Super Bowl XL. It is truly one of the oddest anomolies in
s****t, especially considering that it has remained alive through forty
years
of Super Bowls:

Since the inception of the Super Bowl following the 1966 season, one of
the
two conferences has produced only one Super Bowl winning team per decade.

Following the 4 seasons of the 1960s played since the Super Bowl began,
1966-1969, the only NFC/NFL team to win a Super Bowl was the Packers.

Following the 10 seasons of the 1970s, 1970-1979, the only NFC team to win
a
Super Bowl was the Cowboys.

Following the 10 seasons of the 1980s, 1980-1989, the only AFC team to win
a
Super Bowl was the Raiders.

Following the 10 seasons of the 1990s, 1990-1999, the only AFC team to win
a
Super Bowl was the Broncos.

So far, following the 6 seasons of the 2000s played thus far, 2000-2005,
the
only NFC team to win a Super Bowl has been the Bucaneers.

The Steelers' victory in Super Bowl Extra Large kept this most peculiar
streak alive.

Isn't that weird?

Randy
