No discussion of the Jeff Robinson rumor (supposed to be Boone's
replacement). The re****ters tried to lead him into saying something, but
all he admitted is that they're doing the usual try-outs for all
positions,
including punting, snapping and defensive backs.
Sideline argument - Couple of our guys (trainer & asst. coach).
Someone
stepped on someone's foot, it was crowded, it was during the skirmish
(Spencer & Dockery) on the field. I yelled at my guy (the guy in charge
of
keeping people behind the line on the sideline) to "get those people
back",
so they're trying to get everyone back and they're like "I'm back!" and
"No
you're not!!", so I told them to "Be quiet and stay behind the lines...I
am
coaching a game here...I don't really need this right now (laughs)".
Weaver - Doing well but needs to be more consistent on his blocks.
Wally - Having a typical Walter Jones Pro Bowl season.

Standard Holmgren Anecdote (re: Hass)
When we drafted Hass, Andy Reid's job was go out and find the best 15
QBs and come back. Every year we'd try to draft a rookie QB in the late
rounds. That was Matt. Andy liked him and sold me on him. During the
season he was a practice squad QB and they don't get alot of reps. But I
did remember him and then I came here. Matt played all pre-season for GB
that year and there was enough film to watch him, so when it came time to
make the decision here - we could have drafted one, we could have traded
for one - we could have gone free agency. It all came down to "I gotta
like
the guy" and I liked Matt alot. Those early years were growing pains for
everyone involved. There was never a doubt in my mind that someday he
couldn't be the guy...he has become the guy and I am very pleased and
proud
of how he has approached this and what he has become.

Physical challenge/chippy game - I don't like that part of our
game...there's alot of talking and stuff going on...in every game it
happens. But you don't want anybody taking a cheap shot. We were not
penalized, which I was glad of. Often you see off-setting penalties or
they
catch the second guy. But the call was good because we had just come off
that with the Rams (helmet grabbed and thrown)...well, yesterday the same
thing happened and that's what was called, and I thought the official did
a
nice job with that particular part of it. I'm glad we didn't retaliate.
We're not gonna back down from it, but I don't like getting those
penalties.
1 Second Rule (Kickoff before end of half) - There's some rule...If we
kick it and they catch it on the ground, only 1 second comes off the
clock.
If he catches it on his feet, then the halftime is over.
Hass hit (Flag picked up) - There's some rule...if the QB is off the
ground, there's not penalty. I told the ref "If his feet are on the
ground,
he's probably injured". The ref said "Mike, I'm just tellin' ya the
rule".
I appreciate that. He's a good official.
