Wideman had an assist on one of Lucic's goal but he made several
blunders defensively, n0ne worse than that horrible pass back to Chara
with 15 seconds left in the first period. A simple dump out and the
period is over. Instead, ATL steals it and Schneider scores.
Fernandez gave up four but he wasn't awful. He can take away the low
shot but lift it on him and he's in trouble. I still can't see him as
ever being no. 1 on this team or replacing Thomas. He may become
serviceable but he'll never steal games for Boston.
Sean Thornton was an unsung hero in the game. He dished out the hit that
got the team going in the second and his hustle caused ATL to take a
penalty that led to the 4th Boston goal on the PP, by Krejci I believe.
Kessel didn't score but he was buzzing all night. His hustle through the
neutral zone kept backing the ATL defense up away from the blueline. Way
to go Phil.
And of course Lucic. Is it too early to say he could become another Cam
power forward? He is showing he has the hands for it. I didn't realize
the skill part of his game was so developed.
If the Bergeron line can come around, meaning Ryder can start putting up
numbers, and Kobasew comes back and gives them another 20 goal season,
the offense will not be so bad off. They won't be the '85 Oilers but
they may have enough. PC look for a defenseman please.
