That was one of the coolest things I've ever seen in my life. I can't
believe I didn't go ! I've lived here all my life, been a fan since
1970, and I couldn't get tickets. I'm such a loser. I'm so jealous of
everyone who was priveledged enough to witness that live. The CBC TV
broadcast was amazing, especially their pregame salute to the old Aud.
That brought a tear to my eye. Then the bagpipe players came out with
the drums too and THAT was AMAZING ! Then Ronan sang God Bless
America, and at the end, I got choked up. Then came the fly-by
helicopters and fireworks to top it off. It was freakin brilliant !
And I wasn't even there ! I can't imagine how awesome that must have
been in person. The puck was about to drop and 71,000 people were
screaming and going nuts and chanting LETS GO BUFFALO ! That came out
real nice on TV. Both networks really did a fine job of talking up the
event and our city. All those people to see an outdoor hockey game ?
Are you kidding me ? People around the country now know what we all
know : we are the best fans in the world !
What a great event. I want to see another one !
