Geoff,
I feel your pain. I DO sit in front of my computer all day, and was
overjoyed to see 9 new posts in the past 2 days (sheesh, easily excited
these days). Sadly, it was just "silly traffic".
It's not as though there aren't things to discuss revolving around the
Sabres or hockey in general - but I'm completely miffed that 73,000 fans
can fill a stadium for a hockey game and there aren't 7.3 of them
posting here.
Newsgroups are pretty obscure, and most people seem to prefer www
"boards" to discuss things on (unlike myself). Just a quick glance into
the Habs or Leafs groups and you quickly realize HOURS would be spent
trying to catch up on all their chatter - a true testament to their
passion for the game.
Frankly, I'm too busy sitting in front of my computer trying to make a
living (graphic artist) to accomplish much more than lurking. If I
actually earned a salary, I'd love to talk about everything from
acquiring Gary Bromley's autograph as a kid, to how terrible Derek Roy
seemed to be playing the past few games (losing an edge constantly, and
the puck repelling from his stick like polar magnetic fields). Does
Jason Pomenville lead the league in broken sticks? Why/How does Ryan
Miller wear RBK pads that Reebok doesn't even sell? I could talk about
them ALL DAY LONG, if it were possible. But alas.
I'll see what I can do to post more ridiculous questions and thoughts in
the future, so DON'T YOU DARE GO ANYWHERE! We both know we can't wait
around for Kris to reply!!
Even if it's just me and you, it beats the alternative.
