Stars coach Dave Tippett said this morning that he's talked to the
referees
throughout the Western Conference finals about Red Wings' players going in
motion before face-offs, giving them an advantage in winning possession of
the puck.
"We've talked a lot about it. A lot. The cheating that goes on," Tippett
said. "There are some people we've talked about who do a lot of cheating
on
the face-offs, and that's just part of the game. There are always subjects
like that that are brought up that hopefully play into a situation when
you're trying to make sure it's fair."
The Red Wings have won 62.5 percent of the face-offs in this series. The
Red
Wings have been even better on home ice at Joe Louis Arena, winning 67
percent of the face-offs.
"The Detroit stats up in Detroit are very skewed. Very skewed," Tippett
said. "I think their face-off people like them to win, and that's the way
it
is kind of. We keep our own stats."
