Aside from "Detroit Rock City" actually being a song by Kiss (a band which

was formed in New York), the rest of the statement (up until the triple 
elipses) is pretty much true.  

Detroit was the Country's leading auto manufacturer for close to (if not 
more than; I don't feel like doing homework right now.) 70 years. So motor

city?  Um, yeah. 

"Motown" is an abrreviation of "Motor Town". Motown Records was based in 
Detroit until the early 70's and the term "Motown" became synonymous with 
the great music that came out of Detroit in the 60's and 70's, so that's 
hardly a misnomer.

Detroit is also host to an original 6 NHL team, so it could be argued that

"Hockeytown" is at least *fairly* (or one-sixth) accurate.

That you would think any of those statements "pathetic" is clearly 
indicative of your ability to not think before you speak.
