So glad they went this route instead of signing McCarty who IMO had no
business being on the ice last season. Downey has minimal offensive skills
but his energy and hustle make up for anything McCarty added to the team.
And although this was a extremely late signing and not a headline grabber,
this now completes the roster as although we've proven over the years we
don't NEED an enforcer.....there are still a small handful of instances
where we need to keep an opponent in check. For instance, when the little
turtle from Colorado checked Lidstrom last season and needed to be
reminded
what a punk he is.
Another good signing at a great price. This is what continues to keeps us
ahead of the rest.
