Southern Ontario has had a much higher than usual amount
of rain this summer. Trails are often very soggy. Undergrowth
is often quite shaggy. Some trees have fallen. Even a few
places with collapsed river banks and such. And mosquito
populations are robust, hungry, and active, and may, just
possibly may,be carrying West Nile.
However, we don't have nearly the hazards of places with
real mountains. So mostly it's a question of allowing a
little longer for a hike, taking gear to deal with the mud
and the rain, being sure to have insect repellant, etc.
