Hi,
Looking for a rec for 2-3 night solo back pack.
1. decent weather in 1st week september, no bugs ideal, i prefer
winter camping but not for a solo venture
2. semi-remote, occasional other person on trail, (i.e., don't want be
out and *not* see anyone at all for 2-3 days, but then again don't
want crowds)
3. semi-idiot proof trails, have some route finding/map skills, know
what a cairn is etc., but this being my first solo, prefer something
where i'm not going to get lost
4. will be using airmiles, so most close-to-major-air****t destinations
in US (or better, Canada) open, but thinking something with more open
country than heavy forest, but again, i'm open.
5. i've done about 6 trips including 3 night horseshoe mesa loop in GC
(and also did rim to rim in one day. yeah i know, i know) great
smokeys, jasper, etc.
6. have basic skills, made a few mistakes and lived to learn from
them, but not NOLS type
7. tend to find mileage recs on most trips a bit conservative, i.e.,
arrive at camp sites in early afternoon thinking i could have gone
another couple of hours on the trail
thanks!!
