I forgot one item. I'm a caver, and had my carbide light along for a
camp lantern. We fired up the lamp, set it outside, got in our tent and
zipped up the netting, and watched the flame drastically cut down he
skeeter population. We had books to read, too!

There are moose and wolves, however. You have to filter all water
(chlorine drops by themselves aren't enough) to prevent getting certain
waterborne lung parasites carried by both moose and wolves.
