Sat Phone will work and in some places Cellphones also will work.

Mostly you will not NEED a firearm for a Vacation Stay, as the Coastal
Brown Bears will be feeding up high during the early part of the summers
and basically fi****ng for the rest of the summer and fall. People are
NOT really part of our bears Food Chain, and basically you just need to
be aware of their habits, and don't be an attracktant. (looking like
Food) As one who actually LIVES out in the southeaster Alaska Bush,
I don't usually walk around armed, (Pack'en) however I have weapons
available, should a need arise, which is rare, vary rare.

Always get a new pair of "Southeastern Sneakers" (Extra-Tuff Rubber
Boots) when adventuring out in the summer Bush Country. You'll
understand why, AFTER the trip is over. A good Digital Camera
with a small packable solar panel for recharging, and plenty of
Memory Sticks, is a REALLY good way to save your trip, for the
Grandkids.
