It takes only one person to wake up the bats during the winter. If
they are awakened during their hibernation and don't find a way to
replace the energy they consume, they die, and in the winter there
aren't any bugs for them to eat. Cave explorers are often careful not
to disturb bats, especially hibernating bats, for this very reason.
