Blunt, sarcastic but safe? Single quick draws on Walls

Hi there knowledgeable climber-folk.

To briefly introduce myself, I'm a British 30 yr old rediscovering
climbing for the second time since being far too long working and not
enjoying myself enough. 10 years ago I had about 2 years of climbing
experience outdoors on rock, having been taught by an instructor.

Last month a local guy walks up to me at the local indoor wall and
tells me "You watch it climbing on only one anchor like that......
still you knew that didn't you?" In a pretty intimidating and
sarcastic way. I was surprised and speechless, then the guy walks off
giving a "you should leave the wall to us professionals" type look.
I haven't seen him the last 3 trips, so haven't been able to approach
him to explain his comment.

My friend had not completed the climb in one attempt, so unclipped all
but the highest bolt-mounted quick draw to minimise friction and Z-
clipping.

I know that on rock you have to be very careful not to twist as you're
clipping into a quick draw because it can unclip if fallen on from the
wrong angle, but on a bolted quick draw with the rope correctly
oriented, is there really much danger?

Does anyone else know what this guy was getting at, or was he just
being a prick?
