The future of Indian batting

by "vijaykumark@[EMAIL PROTECTED] " <vijaykumark@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Aug 24, 2008 at 04:45 AM

Long years ago, I remember reading an article
in Dharmyug (remember that?) - kaisi hogi
bhaarat kii bhaavi cricket team? (What will
India's cricket team of the future look like?)
That article included people like Sadanand
Viswanath, Rajinder Singh Ghai, Kris Srikkanth
and Zulfiqar Parkar.

Well, nearly 30 years later, we are probably
ready to answer that question once more.
And it helps that we are seeing what one
might expect to be the core of India's
middle-order together in action - Raina,
Sharma, Badrinath. Add Manoj Tiwary and
Cheteswar Pujara and you have a very solid
side right there.

I know they have been struggling against
Mendis & Muralitharan of late, but I would
suggest giving them a little bit of a rope. Badri
started well, Raina found his feet today
before that stupid run out, and Rohit Sharma
will come out of his funk. That kid needs to
play more domestic cricket...give him a break
from international cricket, I say. He should
come back stronger, the way Raina has.

Vijay
