Ok, this was the definition i was looking for that i couldnt find on
the upa website.
Ultimate: a player defined and controled non contact s****t played with
a flying disc on a playing surface with endzones in which all actions
are governed by the "spirit of the game".
So, yea, wouldnt the words "player defined" entail that ultimate is
whatever the players deem it to be. even if that means the provision
of traditional refs........or even using a ball in stead of a disc for
that matter?
They are a little heavy on all the self officiation implifications
too, arent they. Wouldnt it being governed under sotg already suggest
that the game MUST BE player controled (or self officiated ITO).
and theres nothing even discriptive here as to what the players do
with the disc. look up football, baseball, basketball and soccer.
notice there is nothing included as to how those s****ts are managed/
controled/whatever.
And I still say that player defined trumps any preconcieved notion
that there can or cant be refs.
MY FIRST INITIATIVE WILL BE TO HAVE THIS RE-WRITTEN WHEN I BECOME A
BOARD MEMBER.
