5 years of eligibility, if you aren't enrolled in school for a year
then that doesn't count against your eligibility (eligibilty isn't a
ticking clock).
Also, to clarify (this is the current rule not a hypothetical) your
clock doesn't start when you become a member of UPA, it is from when
you play in your first UPA-sanctioned tournament. Check out Will
Deaver's affidavit on this page:

which quotes this rule: "If more than five years have elapsed between
the initial participation in an ultimate event sanctioned by a
national governing body and June 1 of the current year, the player is
not eligible." It's on page 2 towards the bottom.
I still haven't seen a list of UPA sanctioned non-series
tournaments...anyone?
