Los Angeles - all-in-one windsurfing solution for a weekend visitor?

by mzawadzk@[EMAIL PROTECTED] Apr 14, 2008 at 11:58 AM

Hi there,

I may be visiting LA in the first half of June and I will have 2-3
days (Fri-Sun) extra time.

Since I did my typical tourist stuff at LA before, this time I wanted
to find a friendly place by the beach to
do windsurfing exclusively for these 3 days.

My experience is inland/bay sailing only on 148l free-formula and
longboard, typically with 7.5/10.0 sails (occasionally smaller),
harness and straps, some waterstarts.
So what I need is a safe place with flat water but may want to try
some open-ocean sailing if the conditions are controllable ;-). I
definitely have no clue about wavesailing.

I will need to rent the gear (I'm planning on bringing my own wetsuit/
shoes and harness) and I will also need lodging close to the beach at
moderate-pricing.
What I simply want is to stay at the beach and windsurf all day
long ;-).

I did some research and I found that Captain Kirk's at the Cabrillo
Beach may have all I need.

Would you recommend this place as an all-in-one solution for me?
Any other tips?

Thanks,

-marek
