Re: Recommend board for learning waterstarts

Waterstarting is much easier on a small/sinkier board because you can
sink the board underneath you and get over the board so much easier.
Larger boards only want to float you and you have to have enough wind
to get up and you have to get almost completely out of the water in
order to get the board under you properly.

I would suggest something in the 125L range assuming he has the wind
to make it worth his while. He's only 155 pounds so he should be able
to use this board in winds around 16 to 18 with a large sail. I'm just
a little lighter and my lower limit for sailing my 88L is about 17 or
18 with a 6.5 meter sail.
