I tend to agree with Glenn on this for the reasons he set forth.
Waterstarting on a wide board is actually quite easy compared to a
true longboard.  The reason for this is the ability to rotate a
shorter board while in the waterstart position.  Longboards tend to
rotate slowly and require more rig input.  A super-wide board (over 90
cms) can make finding the centerline a bit more challenging, for
sure.  But having that stability also aids in actually getting the
standup down.  My FW board actually is very easy to waterstart
compared to the smaller wave boards. My wife's Zen also is pretty
easy, but it begins to show its mass.
