No need to pay respect to me. I'm cool with all sorts of questions. I
think it may make it more difficult for me to tread water because the
leg it's basically useless when submerged but I tread quite well
nonetheless. I just tend to use a lot more energy than the next guy. I
see windsurfing as an energy conservation activity so I like to
conserve when I can. I have no trouble clearing a sail in normal
conditions but I do sail a very small board and rig quite often,
making it sometimes difficult to use all the available wind for
waterstarting. When in powered winds I rarely use the tail but in less
powered conditions I often do just to get it cleared but after that I
don't use it anymore.

When I'm in nasty chop and getting flipped all over the place I will
use it a lot more, as I get winded and almost out of energy before I
get up and underway again.

Call it a training wheel but I like it there to use if I need it.
