Re: Recommend board for learning waterstarts

Technos are good boards for intermediates.  Compared to a Go you'd be
less comfortable in nonplaning winds, but might be a bit happier in
planing conditions.   Re waterstarting the Techno will be a little bit
easier, but truly, the answer to which boards are easiest to
waterstart (not necessarily waterstart and then have a good day
sailing) is always the smallest board.

The one negative aspect of Technos (I own one, btw) is that the nose
is susceptible to damage from mast hits.   If you're working on
waterstarts odds are your harness technique is less than stellar, and
a few good catapults could knock off the nose of a Techno.   Some
people use Deviators, but these mess with your tacking.

Aside from the nose being vulnerable to catapult hits, Technos are not
fragile boards.   I've had mine 8 years, not treated it particularly
well, but have never needed to repair it.
