Humane Stuck Mast Method? -- Water Trickle

by Bob D <windtalkposter@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > May 22, 2008 at 02:07 PM

This morning at 10am I poured water into the bottom end of my stuck 2-
piece mast. I then upended it so it was almost vertical. At noon it
was still stuck. I rotated the mast 180 degrees like a bottle of wine
in storage. At 2pm the two halves pulled apart easily.

I had not seen this method published before, and it seems a lot kinder
to the mast than the other methods, if it proves to be repeatable.

This was an Ezzy 2 piece skinny that for me has been very difficult to
separate. My theory was that slowly the water would leak out through
the junction and take sand particles with it. I thought it might take
a day or two. The lower half of the mast still has a baffle in it,
obviously not waterproof though.

Anybody else try this one?

Bob
